About the track

The 3/4-mile (1.2 km), D-shaped, asphalt Richmond Raceway (RR), originally known as the Richmond International Raceway (RIR), is situated in Henrico County, just outside of Richmond, Virginia. It serves as the venue for the IndyCar Series, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, the NASCAR Cup Series, and the NASCAR Xfinity Series. It has previously hosted two USAC sprint car races and is referred to as "America's premier short track."
